Teaching unit: "Let's become explorers"
In this section of the web, you will find the whole planning and materials of my teaching unit.
Student's grade is 3rd grade and teaching areas are English and Social and Natural sciences.

In this teaching sequence, students will investigate invertebrates and will discover their importance. The xplanation of the teaching unit is that an explorer (Katherine Jones) is writing a book about invertebrates and she asks students to help her in order to finish all the reports.
To be able to do this she uses a diary to write down all her discoveries (curiosities, characteristics of the animals...). She asks students to help her gather more data about the arthropods in an innovative and visual way. She suggests creating some posters with Crello. These will be sent to her by email.

The driving question is: "What do you know about invertebrates?" and the final product are posters.

Students level of English is A1.
Students are able to interact in a very simple way (what his/her name is, where they live, daily vocabulary…). Regarding listening, students are able to understand clear instructions in English and recognize basic structures. Regarding reading, students can understand simple texts with some difficult expressions.
Regarding spoken interaction, students can use simple sentences with some language support and they can describe and use simple vocabulary and structures previously worked on. Regarding writing, students can write simple sentences, being able to write more complicated ones with language support and help.
